《talkin' 2 myself》 is a fast tempo Rock song. Ayu appeared energetic and strong in the PV with her blond short hairstyle. This is also the CM theme song for Panasonic Limix FX33 which she endorsed. The single topped the Oricon Single chart. The title track conveyed a message together with C/W track 《decision》.

AYU: I get my inspiration easily when I explore a little for my feelings. The C/W track 《decision》 was written first expressing my lifestyle and my own style. The song strongly expressed the thoughts of "That is how i survive.".
The questions : "What do i feel about choosing this lifestyle?", "How do reality develop?", "What do i think now?" see the birth of the song 《talkin' 2 myself》. To say the lyrics of 《talkin' 2 myself》 is meant to be conveyed to other people, why don't i say the lyrics is written for myself, because the theme is about a person mumbling and talking to own self.It expresses the determination of surviving in my way.

That person lives alone as "The Queen of destroyer"

AYU: The lyrics of 《takin' 2 myself》 mentioned "Creation is born only after destruction". I... am the queen of destruction. (laugh) I am very confident about this point. But at the beginning i am very afraid of destruction, so no matter what i want to protect. But in the end it is still spoilt. This is not because of others, I was just too bored. But i have no intent to destroy, i only wanted to open a new ventilation outlet. If not i can't create new stuff, i also can't produce any new stuff.

So that person's style is to compete with creation through destruction.

AYU: Because I am the queen of destroyer, there are a lot of destructions in my surroundings every day. To make myself feel good or to make it my priority is a natural thing. To destroy is like opening a ventilation outlet, it is a very happy thing after acknowledging the fact. That means to open a ventilation outlet = a destruction, i do a lot of it everyday. Different kinds of wind can be blown in if i just create a ventilation outlet, the feeling will also be better? But the wind that blown in is normally weak but sometimes there is also "typhoon" coming in. (laugh) But that is also something that i have to deal with it.

AYU's changes

AYU: I used to have thoughts like "I can only survive in this way so leave me alone", but now i wish the people around me... my fans or my friends to be able to understand and love me. In the past i feel that if i don't do anything different then it would be very horrible. If the person named "ayumi hamasaki" is totally identical to myself then it would be very scary. If every formula is expressed using "the ayumi hamasaki that everyone knows = AYU", i would be very pissed off by it. But, recently... though the stubborn character has not changed, but have become more straight forward. So straight forward that is able to accept many more things that people think "Isn't that the same person?". To allow everyone to see AYU's shadow in the presence of "ayumi hamasaki". for me that is a kind of acceptance. That is also something good, i choose this kind of compromise because i like it.

Used to very attentive to all details, like "should ayumi hamasaki do this?" kinda thoughts, then get into the diliemia. But i have the freedom when writing a song. Before this i would complain to friends saying "I have no freedom?" I get enlightened when they replied "Doesn't AYU get the freedom from singing songs? Why don't you write a new song?" (laugh) At that time, i was thinking... "IS it? To get freedom from the songs? Thats why i release 《takin' 2 myself》. Indeed i get the freedom that i want from it. Maybe all this while it has been like that but i only understand it when people reminded me, I suppose i have already forgotten this kind of feeling. Honestly to be living under the eyes of everyone, it is a lie to say that it is not tiring. But to get the freedom that i want, i can get it in the world of the song. No matter what, if i can be flying in my own patch of sky, to be able to draw any kind of scenery is a freedom. Circulating on top of the forrest, to play in the wide backyard.... all can be done according to own determination.
In the past there is no CD at home and i will never listen to my own songs. One day at night i was suddenly strike by crazy thoughts of "i want to listen to this and that...." I downloaded a lot of songs and suddenly realised downloading music is very fun. In the end i bought a lot of digital tunes, even my own songs. "HOHO, so i would even sing this kind of songs." Downloading my old songs to the lastest songs, i realized that i didn't seem to recall hearing songs in 《DUTY》 and 《Memorial address》, i suppose those are songs that are produced when i was very busy. So it sounds as if they aren't my songs. Its like listening to another person's songs. (laugh)But there are a few memorable songs. (laugh) Like "this song is strong and energetic"... but sometimes i can't figure out the lyrics, even after attempting to sing it out... i can't remember, it seems that next time i got to search from lyrics websites. (LOLX)

AYU: Although choosing to avoid dealing with some people is able to achieve a good result, i would choose not to do so. I would chhose not to use my back to avoid it when there is a big bomb flying towards me. I wanted to see clearly where the bomb is coming from and how it hits me. IF i am afraid of it and escape, i will never know who is firing at me. I can only feel the pain, i hate it to be like that. Thee is only injury if i escape, and i can't figure out how i can really protect myself.

Her words comes from her heart, not pretentious or arrogant, so "ayumi hamasaki" shines out exceptionally.
Lies & Truth

AYU: Don't wish to lie to others, especially to myself. But to be honest to myself and the surroundings, there is always a fear in everyone. Even if i want to do this, there are times that i can't achieve it, like an OL (office lady) who needs to consider the feelings of her superior, i can't have the freedom in my words and speech, but to figure it out "So what i just don't want to lie."

Luckily i am not the employee in the company, if not i will never get a promotion. (laugh) Because i don't have the personality to lie. (laugh) So i will do my best to express my real thoughts, just that after taking on this job, saying some words will have some trouble, so i start to have some fear elements. As time goes by i become "mature".... To me, the most pathetic thing is "Unable to say the truth to my fans", because there will be relationship problems between adults. (frown) At that moment i can't say what i really wanted to say, to me that is a very miserable thing. But i can handle the misery that i cause for myself, i know where is pain and how to treat it.

Her speech is always simple and strong, even the lonely singing is also strong. She, is not only a 29 year old woman, but singing to encourage and heal the existence of human beings. She holds unmeasurable energy and acceptance.
AYU's happiness Theory


AYU: Everyone has a different standard for their success or failure, happiness and unhappiness. Even if everyone around them says "that person is so pitiful", as long as the person feels that he/she is happy. To me, the little happiness experience in the daily life is what that matters.... how should i put it... The moments to play with my dogs. Because dogs are very easygoing and very honest, they don't expect anything,so humans are unable to copy the dog's world.
